January 23rd-26th-- In the Groove!

Wednesday was the fifth day of the show. It's hard to believe that we're actually past the halfway point of the nine-day event. This upcoming weekend is going to be the heaviest activity of the show though, so in that sense, the best is yet to come. We're really in the swing of things now.  All of us are switching off between working in the store and at the booth. In a sense, albeit a temporary sense, Wild Bird Landing has expanded to two locations!
Every day right before opening, we're given an announcement of the previous days' attendance. So far, the total attendance of the first four days of the show (we won't hear today's figures until tomorrow) has been over 30,000 people! Amongst the thousands, it's been great to see some familiar faces from the store come by our booth.  We really appreciate you folks taking the time to come see us. We've also met a great many people for the first time, and we hope that you all in turn will come visit us in the store and will become more of our friends and regular customers.

Other than slight changes from pieces being sold and replaced by fresh stock, our booth looks very similar to how it did on opening day. So instead of posting more pictures of us, here's a couple of pictures of our "neighbors" across the aisle. This is the view we have from looking out our booth each day!
The nice ladies in the booth across from us
There are advantages and disadvantages to being right across from the fudge booth!
The lady at left facing the camera, and the lady in the middle of the picture facing right run the "Small Miracles" booth.  They sell microfiber towels, swiveling showerheads, Mr. Sticky lint rollers, and other useful household accessories. They're crazy and fun, always smiling and laughing with us across the aisle. We'll definitely want to get a better picture taken with these ladies before the end of the show. This is the really, really evil and dangerous booth across just to our right. "Picadilly Pantry" sells dip mixes through the other side of the curtain, and fudge and turtle candies on the side facing us. We have patronized their booth regularly since the show opened. Considering that you can buy almost a pound of fudge for the price of a sandwich at one of the hall's concessions, it just goes to show that sometimes, you might as well indulge!

We've also been asked more than once, "Where are the dogs?!" Unfortunately, we don't think it would go over too well if we pinned exhibitor badges to their collars, or worse yet, tried to pass off Marduk as a Service Dog in Training. To let those of you who haven't met our dogs in on the joke, Marduk is a very friendly, very rowdy, sometimes obedient, 85-lb, 15-month-old Boxer puppy! Like our other three dogs, he often "works" with us at the store. Any of our new friends who come to the store surely will meet Marduk, Winter, Gypsy and Meghan, our four canine family members.
